Jane Dimond      Journalist | Writer | Communicator

Hello, and welcome!

I'm Jane Dimond, a journalist and communicator with more than 25 years' experience. I've worked across the UK's leading media brands, including the BBC, ITV, News UK, Future, Hearst and Bauer Media.

I love words – whether to communicate news and information – or to entertain.

I have a track record of generating fresh ideas and engaging content, and pride myself on my versatility, covering everything from news and sport to entertainment, lifestyle and spirituality.

Career highlights include devising and writing the long-running 'pop psychology' celebrity interview series 'In The Chair' for TV Times, in which I explored the true personality behind the public persona of numerous famous people, from Ronnie Barker to Ricky Martin, Michael Parkinson to Peter Kay, Jo Brand to June Brown. I also created the interview series 'Woman to Woman' for Woman, and have written features on wide-ranging subjects for numerous other magazines and the national press, including The Sun and Daily Mirror. I have a reputation for integrity and discretion, securing sought-after interviews with tabloid-wary actors, sports stars and TV personalities.

I've also worked in television, as a producer on the ITV topical debate show Thursday Night Live, presented by Andrew Neil, and a film director and associate producer on ITV's daytime magazine show Capital Woman. I'm a confident communicator, and have appeared as a guest commentator on several TV programmes, whilst my PR experience includes collaborating on campaigns such as Bride of the Year and media-training finalists on The X Factor.

My digital journalism includes news and sports reports for BBC News & Current Affairs and features for IPC Magazines' website. I'm currently providing editorial support and idea generation for an AFC Wimbledon fan-led fund-raising campaign, securing prize donations from organisations such as The All England Lawn Tennis Club.

I'm also a fully qualified teacher, and taught part time during 2023-24, but journalism has always remained my first and overriding love, and I am focusing full-time on my writing career again. However, I continue to enjoy the creative spark of children through my work as an examiner for the KS2 National Curriculum Assessments, which also enables me to indulge my inner grammar nerd!

Alongside my love of language, I've always been fascinated by personality makeup, which I explored through my extensive interviews with both high-profile figures and members of the public. It led me to formally study astrology in the early 2000s, and I've written astrology features and columns for various magazines, including Company, Spirit and Destiny and Inside Soap.

A wide range of my published features can be viewed in the Cuttings sections or on my LinkedIn profile.

I'm also a news and politics junkie, and a practising campanologist. My love of wordplay extends to writing rhyming humorous picture books, with my first title, Clear off, Crow!, awarded 'reader's favourite' in the Write Mentor Children's Book Awards, and I'm the proud mum of three boys, including a rescue dog adopted from the RSPCA :-).
